Owens Berunga

Head of Programmes

Owens Berunga is a Ford Foundation International Scholarship Fellow (8th Cohort) with more than 15 years of hands-on experience in Project, Program & Portfolio Management in multi-professional not-for-profit organization environment. Owens possesses a strong working knowledge of developing policies and plans for change. He has more than 10 years of working with socially marginalized and economically disadvantaged groups especially women and children.

As Head of Programmes at SOS Children’s Villages Uganda, Owens provides strategic direction and development of the organization’s key programme themes in the National Association namely Alternative Care (family like care, youth care), Family Strengthening Programmes (FSP), Youth Development, Advocacy, Institutional Partnership Development and Emergency Response programmes.

Owens holds a Masters of Arts degree [with Merit] with a bias in International Educational Management from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom and Bachelor’s degree in Education from Makerere University.  He is a seasoned child protection specialist and safeguarding trainer of trainers.
