Foster Family Care

An arrangement in which a child or young person has been placed by a competent authority in the domestic environment of a family other than the child’s or young person’s own family.

FOSTER FAMILY CARE

In our setting, the FFC is an arrangement in which a child or young person has been placed by a competent authority (MGLSD and its cascading structures) in the domestic environment of a family other than the child’s or young person’s own family. We routinely work with the MGLSD and its cascading structures to ensure that the foster family has been selected, qualified, approved and supervised for providing such care. We strictly focus on formal foster care, meaning that our foster care is anchored in legislative frameworks of Uganda and follows accredited procedures, where foster parents undergo formal recruitment and training, often receive defined support, and are professionally supported and monitored to ensure quality care
